A litigation lawyer, Mr. Côté often pleads in cases of civil, commercial, and fiscal litigation. He also acts in injunctions, protection orders, seizure proceedings, nonpublication orders, and other similar requests.

He also practices in the fields of business and civil law, primarily in the fields of construction, media, and in cases of defamation, civil and professional liability, enforcement of security rights, bankruptcy and insolvency. His fields of expertise also include real estate, insurance, and environmental law.
Mr. Côté acts as adviser and legal counsel to various construction work providers, contractors, and subcontractors for the realization of business projects, construction projects, or to file or dispute claims. As such, he both prosecutes and defends architects, engineers, surveyors, and other such professionals in matters of professional liability in projects with respect to the design and drafting of plans and specifications or for the management and supervision of work.

Called upon as legal counsel to media businesses and their journalists, Mr. Côté specializes in charter defamation, specifically in matters of freedom of expression. In addition to journalist liability, he acts in cases brought to court in matters of source identification, nonpublication orders, or access requests to documents or information.

Mr. Côté also acts in shareholder disputes, namely in matters of minority shareholder oppression, annual reports to shareholders, and liquidation of businesses.

Lastly, he practices in health law for cases related to care and institutional confinement.
